    Dave Ramsey

Why not just buy health insurance direct?

We work for you, not the insurance companies.

Buying direct costs the same and leaves you alone with it. The price of a plan is set by the carrier. Buying through Health Trust Financial doesn't add a penny, the carriers pay us, not you. So going direct means paying the same price with no one in your corner. With us, the price is identical, and you get a licensed advisor, vetted by the Ramsey team, who compares top carriers, catches the costly mistakes, and stays with you.

How a broker actually gets paid

The carriers pay a commission when someone enrolls, and it's built into the price of the plan whether a broker is involved or not. It isn't added on for using one. It isn't taken off for going without one.

Our job is to find the plan that actually fits you, not to push one company's product. If a plan we can't sell is the right plan for you, we'll tell you that.

To be clear about the two things people mix up: the price of any given plan is the same whether you buy it alone or through us. The savings our clients talk about come from us finding them a better-fitting, lower-cost plan than the one they had. Our help itself never costs you a thing.

    LEARN WHY
Five people standing together against a blue background with text reading Nationally Endorsed by The Ramsey Show

The five mistakes people make shopping alone

Every one of these is common, every one is avoidable, and every one costs money.

    01

Shopping on the monthly premium alone.

It is the number everyone compares, and it is the wrong one to compare first. A low premium usually means a high deductible, which is what you pay before the plan starts sharing costs.

    WHAT IT COSTS YOU

A cheap plan you cannot afford to actually use is not a cheap plan. You find that out in the year you need it.

    02

Not checking the network before enrolling.

Your doctor accepting insurance in general does not mean your doctor is in the network of the specific plan you are about to buy.

    WHAT IT COSTS YOU

People find this out at their first appointment, and by then the enrollment window has usually closed.

    03

    Letting the plan auto-renew.

Plans reset every year. Networks change, drug lists change, prices change, and your income changes. Auto-renewal quietly assumes none of that happened.

    WHAT IT COSTS YOU

Most people never re-check. That is exactly why they keep overpaying, year after year.

    04

    Assuming a broker costs extra.

It does not. The carriers set the price and it is identical either way. This is the most misunderstood fact in health insurance.

    WHAT IT COSTS YOU

It is the reason a great many people shop alone and end up in the wrong plan, for exactly the same money.

    05

    Missing the enrollment window.

Open enrollment is a fixed window. Miss it and you usually wait a year, unless a qualifying life event opens a special enrollment period.

    WHAT IT COSTS YOU

A lot of people qualify for a special enrollment period and never find out.

You're not supposed to know all this. We are. This is what we mean by someone in your corner.

    Common questions.

Does using a health insurance broker cost extra?
No. Health Trust Financial is free to you. We're paid by the insurance carriers, not by you, so working with us doesn't raise your premium. You get a licensed advisor who compares plans across carriers at no cost.
How much can I save on health insurance with Health Trust Financial?
Clients routinely tell us they cut their monthly premium in half, and many save 50% or more. Your savings depend on your situation, your location, and the plan you choose, so individual results vary. One client, Amber Sharp, told us she found a plan that saved her family $8,500 a year.
What types of health insurance can Health Trust Financial help with?
We help with individual and family ACA plans, Medicare, short-term coverage, Health Savings Accounts, and dental and vision. We also help with a faith-based alternative to health insurance, and we cover the self-employed and small businesses. One advisor can compare your options with you.
What does RamseyTrusted mean, and who is Health Trust Financial?
Health Trust Financial is the only company the Ramsey Team recommends to help you find health insurance. RamseyTrusted means we've been vetted by the Ramsey team and follow the Ramsey mission. We've been their nationally recommended health insurance provider since 2003.
Will I get a flood of calls if I request a quote?
No. Your contact information stays private, and you work with one advisor, not a list of agents. Several of our reviewers mention that what stood out was not getting bombarded with calls.
How long does it take to get a quote?
About two minutes to start. You answer a few quick questions, and a licensed advisor follows up with your best-fit options. There's no cost and no pressure to buy.
Which insurance carriers do you compare?
We shop the top carriers, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Kaiser. Because we compare across companies, you see options side by side instead of calling each one yourself.
Can you help if I'm self-employed or turning 65?
Yes. If you're self-employed, we help you find coverage without an employer's help, priced on your situation. If you're turning 65, we compare Medicare Advantage, Supplement, and Part D plans and help you avoid the enrollment mistakes that cost money.
What does a health insurance broker actually do?
A licensed broker compares plans across top carriers on your behalf, checks that your doctors and prescriptions are covered, runs your subsidy eligibility, and explains the tradeoffs before you enroll. Health Trust Financial does all of that at no cost to you, because the carriers pay us rather than you.
Is it cheaper to buy health insurance directly from the carrier?
No. The price of a plan is set by the carrier and it is identical whether you buy it directly or through a broker. Going direct does not save you money. It only means nobody is checking your network, your subsidy, or your deductible before you commit.
What is the difference between a premium, a deductible, and an out-of-pocket maximum?
The premium is what you pay every month whether you use the plan or not. The deductible is what you pay before the plan starts sharing costs with you. The out-of-pocket maximum is the most you can be asked to pay in a single year. All three matter, and comparing only the premium is the most common and most expensive mistake in health insurance.
When can I enroll in health insurance?
During open enrollment, or during a special enrollment period opened by a qualifying life event such as losing coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving. Many people qualify for a special enrollment period without realizing it.
Can I switch plans if my premium went up?
Often, yes. A life event can open a window, and open enrollment comes around every year. A licensed advisor can re-shop your coverage across top carriers and re-check your subsidy, free of charge.
    Do you help with Medicare?
Yes. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D plans, check that your doctors and prescriptions are covered, and help you time your enrollment so you do not trigger a penalty that follows you for life.
What happens after I request a quote?
A licensed advisor follows up to compare your options with you. You will not see a price on this website, because the right price depends on your situation, and we would rather show you real options than a guess. It is free, there is no obligation, and you work with one advisor rather than a list of agents.
